Cash in Canada is a leading industry conference bringing together professionals from across the cash ecosystem to exchange insights and real-world experiences. The event will be hosted at Vantage Venues on June 2nd.
As the Canadian cash landscape continues to evolve, understanding what the future holds for cash as a payment instrument is becoming increasingly important. The Cash in Canada event provides a platform for the cash ecosystem to come together and explore how this landscape is changing – exploring emerging trends and innovations that are shaping the future of the cash cycle.
The event will feature a mix of presentations and panel discussions from industry experts. Following the event, there will be a networking reception, providing an opportunity to connect with industry peers.
In recent years, the Canadian payments environment has experienced significant change. Through advances in payment technology and shifts in consumer behaviour, the role of cash and how Canadians interact with the broader payments ecosystem has shifted.
The opening address will examine how the landscape has evolved over the past decade and consider what these developments mean for cash as a payment instrument.
The presentation will also explore how these trends may continue to shape the cash landscape in the years to come. Utilizing data from developments in innovation and digital payments, the session will set the stage for further discussions throughout the event and highlight the importance of industry collaboration in supporting the long-term sustainability of cash.
Across Canada, the cash cycle is experiencing a period of transformation as new technologies and operational approaches reshape how cash is managed across the supply chain — including how cash is deposited and recirculated.
This session will examine some of the key technological advancements that have emerged within Canada’s cash infrastructure, alongside new and evolving approaches to cash deposits both within and beyond the traditional branch network. It will also consider the factors driving these developments, from changing consumer behaviour to the need to maintain reliable cash access across both urban and rural communities.
Looking ahead, the presentation will explore how these developments may continue to influence the cash cycle in the years to come. As innovation continues to shape the industry, understanding the drivers behind these changes provides important context for how the Canadian cash ecosystem may continue to evolve.
Operational strategies around cash deposits are constantly evolving as technology providers respond to a changing operating environment. Advancements in ATM technology, deposit automation, and self-service solutions are reshaping how cash is accepted, managed, and recirculated across the network.
In this session, experts will share their perspectives on how the industry is evolving and how their organizations are supporting these strategic developments. The discussion will explore how emerging innovations within ATM and self-service deposit channels are influencing the future of cash deposits in Canada, and what lessons can be learned from other industries and global markets that have seen success in this space.
The Cash-in-Transit (CIT) market in Canada is undergoing a period of structural change. In recent years, the industry has witnessed shifts in operating models, greater industry pressures and market consolidation, prompting CIT providers to adapt to how they support the cash supply chain. While FIs continue to evolve their cash management strategies, ensuring closer alignment between banks and CIT providers is essential to ensuring the continuance of the cash distribution market in Canada.
In this session, panelists will draw on real-life experiences to explore how CIT providers are navigating these changes and what they are seeing across the industry. Utilizing experience in both Canada and other international markets, the session will provide insights into how the market has evolved and, ultimately, what these developments mean for the future of Canada's cash infrastructure.
Across global ecosystems in recent years, there has been an increased exploration of collaborative approaches amongst FIs to ensure a sustainable cash infrastructure. In different markets, this collaboration has come in multiple forms, from joint ATM networks to supplier partnerships.
As the Canadian cash landscape continues to evolve, similar questions are being asked around how banks can work more closely together to support a sustainable and resilient cash infrastructure.
The session will not only provide case studies on industry collaboration seen in global markets, but also a focus on potential routes that could be seen in Canada over the coming years.
To conclude the day, experts from leading financial institutions will come together to share their views on some of the most important big-picture issues facing the industry.
From the effects of consolidation to the evolving role of cash, panelists will react to a series of industry statements submitted by the audience as well as sharing their own insights and opinions.
Expert guests from the industry will join us and provide perspectives as we discuss, debate and analyze a range of pertinent topics.
